Although Elvis was now a recording star with RCA, he was still close to Phillips, his old friend and mentor.&nbsp;</p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5;">At the time, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis were at the studio working together on some of Perkins' latest songs.
