An interview with Brennan Villines about his new CD with the Brennan Villines Trio, which will be released December 14, 2011.
Memphis entertainer Brennan Villines has been making his mark in the Industry in more ways than one. A recent graduate of the University of Memphis with a Bachelors of Music and concentration in Music Business, Brennan’s career began to take off when he was awarded a full scholarship to The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music and decided to move to Memphis from rural western Kentucky.
For the past several years, a growing number of fans have seen Brennan perform in bars, nightclubs and VIP private events and have admired his true passion for what he enjoys most, simply singing and playing the piano. His band, “The Brennan Villines Trio” which features himself on piano and vocals, along with a bassist, and drummer, has gained popularity throughout the Mid-south region for the past 3 years.
The trio performs weekly at two of Memphis’ most posh establishments, The Mollie Fontaine Lounge and Bhan Thai. The group was also recently nominated for the first time as “Best Local Band” in The Memphis Flyer. The trio is currently recording their first album with producing legend Jeff Powell (Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bob Dylan, Big Star) of the famous Ardent Studios in Memphis. The album will feature a collection of favorites ranging from classic jazz standards to soulful originals featuring collaborations by some of Brennan’s major influences such as Grammy nominated singer, Susan Marshall.
Brennan’s unique soulful sound and style has been referred to as “saucy” and wildly eclectic by the Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) and The Memphis Flyer. Look for His first album to arriving on December 14, 2011, on vinyl and on iTunes.
