Final Show for Memphis Art Icon Dolph Smith

Opening August 1st at the Cotton Museum is "Parting Shots and a look back: a final exhibit of new and past works by Dolph Smith."

The Cotton Museum is hosting what Memphis art icon Dolph Smith says is his final "full" exhibition. It opens Friday, August 1st and runs through August 31st, with a Gallery talk by the artist at 6 pm on August 14. In this conversation, Dolph discusses his past and current works, the idea of Tennarkipi, and where he goes from here.

I began piano lessons at age 6, trumpet at age 9, and began teaching myself the guitar at 10. My electronics knowledge comes from my father, who had the RCA television and stereo shop in my hometown of Pocahontas, Arkansas for nearly 20 years. My dad is still fixing televisions at age 79.
