Food Truck Festival at GPAC

GPAC

Food trucks are quickly becoming America’s favorite casual dining option …

… and the Germantown Performing Arts Center (also known as GPAC) has found that pairing great food trucks with great music is a winning combo that makes for the perfect outdoor festival.

“Last June we had our first Food Truck and Music Festival. Over 2,500 people showed up … so this September 25, Sunday, we are going to do it again,” explains Paul Chandler, the Executive Director of GPAC.

“We don’t see a lot of food trucks out in East Memphis and the Germantown area so a couple of years ago we started to experiment with 2 and 4 here and there before big shows at GPAC. But that food truck and music festival we did back in June and the one we are going to do on September 25th has 12 trucks.  And I gotta tell ya, this entire community has really embraced it and we have gotten incredible feedback and there is a high level of interest in food trucks.”

So what local food trucks will be serving up their tasty fare?

“We plan to have about a dozen food trucks at the festival including Monkey Train Grazing Company, Say Cheese!, Rice Burners, Joy Ride, Memphis Mojo Café, and a few others. It’s going to be great.”

And of course, we can’t forget the music …

“We have a great line-up for our Food Truck and Music Festival. The School of Rock kids are going to return, this time it’s the East Memphis School of Rock kids, then we have DJ Mark Anderson, Southern Avenue (which is a hot new Memphis band), we have Memphis Jones  (who is a fantastic entertainer), and we’ve got Motel Mirrors which features Amy LaVere and John Paul Keith.”
