Great art plus great food

Dixon Gallery and Gardens / Justin Fox Burks

There is a new lunch spot in town located in one of the prettiest spots in the city.

I recently sat down with Kristi and Kevin Bush of CFY Catering to find out about their new venture Park + Cherry.

“Park + Cherry is the café inside the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. We took over back in July and things are going really well. We are very excited. The hours we are open from 11 to 2 for lunch and then coffees and pastries from 10 to 4.”

And what can you find on the menu?

“At Park + Cherry we have sandwiches – both hot and cold. We have salads and then we also have things like a cheese plate and we do a quiche of the day. And then we also have a dessert case filled with pastries.”

One of Kristi’s favorite dishes and one of the most unique on the menu is the Pickled Avocado Toast.

“The way we pickle the avocado is that we take vinegar and crushed red peppers, black peppercorns, lemons, and rosemary and then we brine it for a couple of days.”

And what does this taste like?

“The flavor is still creamy like an avocado but is much brighter from the vinegar and the lemons and then there is heat on the back end from the crushed red peppers.”

Kristi and Kevin also cater for Dixon events like the upcoming Art On Fire on October 21.

“We like to have a lot of fun when we are doing the events here for the Dixon.”

For Art on Fire, they are planning a dish that involves fire!

This is Jennifer Chandler with The Weekly Dish. Bon Appetit!
