The young duo of Joey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale met two years ago.  They were both performing solo acts in Los Angeles nightclubs and soon realized they could go further together.  They spent about a year working out their beautiful blend of guitar picking and harmonies to create The Milk Carton Kids.

Pattengale says, “From the start we knew it was something we should be concentrating on.”  Now 11 months after they hit the road as The Milk Carton Kids, it’s difficult to untangle their tightly woven harmonies and guitar picking:  it’s hard to tell where one begins and the other picks up and vice versa.

The Milk Carton Kids give away their music for free on their website, as well as options to buy it.

Folk Alliance International wrapped up its nearly weeklong conference Sunday, featuring folk artists from around the globe.  The music swirled through the hallways, rooms and just about every nook of the Downtown Marriott.  This was the last time that Memphis will act as host.  Next year, the conference moves to Toronto.
