New group formed to promote Choro music

The Brazilian music group Choro Das Tres will be returning to Memphis in July.

In advance of their appearance, a new non-profit organization has been formed to promote Brazil's choro musical style in the Mid-South.

In this interview, West TN Choro founders Amy Burcham and Alan Compton discuss the upcoming concert, other events they are planning, and their vision for spreading the word about this musical style to a larger audience in the area.

I began piano lessons at age 6, trumpet at age 9, and began teaching myself the guitar at 10. My electronics knowledge comes from my father, who had the RCA television and stereo shop in my hometown of Pocahontas, Arkansas for nearly 20 years. My dad is still fixing televisions at age 79.
