State Capitol Report: Employers Not Keen About Guns at Work

Big business pushed back against a bill up for debate in the Tennessee legislature that would allow gun owners to keep their firearms in their cars at work, as long as they have a permit and keep the guns locked up.

Republican Mike Faulk is the state Senator who sponsored the bill to protect employees from firing for having a gun on company property.

But in a state Senate committee last week, some of the states largest employers pushed back.  They say their rights as property owners trump the Second Amendment rights of employees.

The bill is on the calendar for debate in the state Senate Commerce, Labor and Agriculture Committee on Tuesday.
