Tennessee Shakespeare Company Resurrects "Richard III"

Richard III bones

Tennessee Shakespeare Company opens its seventh season with a resurrection of William Shakespeare’s Richard III  at Germantown Performing Arts Center over Halloween.

Tennessee Shakespeare Company is using the recent discovery of the burial place of the historical Richard III to inform their season opener of the literary Richard, Halloween weekend at GPAC. In this interview, TSC founder and producing artistic director (and title character in this play) Dan McCleary talks about playing Richard, the historical vs. the Shakespearean character, and the challenge of integrating archeology and literature.

Richard III is at GPAC for 3 shows only, October 30 and 31 and November 1, all shows at 7 pm.

I began piano lessons at age 6, trumpet at age 9, and began teaching myself the guitar at 10. My electronics knowledge comes from my father, who had the RCA television and stereo shop in my hometown of Pocahontas, Arkansas for nearly 20 years. My dad is still fixing televisions at age 79.
