Front-runner Donald Trump has made multiple appearances in Tennessee, where he's solidly leading presidential polls.

It’s not even close.

Billionaire businessman Donald Trump is Tennessee’s favorite candidate running for president, according to a new poll from Middle Tennessee State University.

When Republican voters were asked to come up with their pick, 33 percent chose Trump. The next largest slice of GOP voters — 28 percent — is undecided.

The outspoken mogul has basically twice the partisan support of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. And Trump's lead appears to have grown from December, when Vanderbilt released a poll.

The man who was leading MTSU's poll in October — neurosurgeon Ben Carson — has dropped to single-digit support.

Across Republicans and Democrats, Trump is still the leader, but there are even more undecideds.

Republican candidates get most of the attention in the current MTSU poll, which has a 4 percent margin of error. But on the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the clear front-runner. While she’s winning among the Democrats, she’s also the least-liked candidate across the field. Nearly two-thirds of respondents — Democrat and Republican — said they oppose her becoming president.

Tennesseans vote in the presidential primary March 1 as part of the so-called "SEC Primary."
