A Fun, Healthy Cooler

I Love Juice Bar

Smoothie Bowls are just what the name implies … smoothies in a bowl!

I ran by I Love Juice Bar the other day to ask Scott Tashie to tell me about this new healthy dish that he serves on the menus at both of his restaurants, I Love Juice Bar and City Silo.

“A smoothie bowl is similar to a smoothie but it’s thicker in consistency and we serve them in a bowl. You also eat them with a spoon.”

This twist on a smoothie is very filling and makes for a yummy breakfast, lunch or snack.

“Smoothie bowls are great because you can be very creative with what you put in the base. You can use different types of liquids of your choice, you can use whole vegetables as well as frozen fruit.”

They can be made with almond milk, coconut milk, apple juice, or even coconut water!  There is a version for everyone’s taste.

“One thing people love about smoothie bowls are all the toppings they get to add. We use stuff like granola, almond butter, fresh fruit, chia seeds, and honey.”

Thanks to the toppings, smoothie bowls are not only packed with nutrients that will keep you energized all day long but they are super-satisfying.

Acai Bowls are probably the most common, but Scott and his team at I Love Juice Bar have come up with some really interesting and tasty versions.

“The Go-Go Green Bowl is my favorite because I’m always on the go. It’s a great way for me to get my protein and my greens.” The base of this one is apple juice, protein powder, spinach, lemon, avocado, and mango.

This is Jennifer Chandler with The Weekly Dish. Bon Appetit!
