Memphis, TN – In the 1800s, the exploits and villainy of John Murrell and his clan of hundreds entertained and frightened Memphians and mid-southerners. The Murrell Clan was a secret society composed of members of influential families from nine states. In 1885, hunters near Huntington, TN, uncovered a cave which supposedly held a secret chamber used by Murrell and his gang. The discovery inside of mummified victims rekindled the sensationalism of the Murrell Clan.
