Mindfulness is a term which is becoming popular in our culture.
Research studies are being conducted revealing that mindfulness can improve our health, well being, careers, and relationships.
According to Oxford Mindfulness Center, "Mindfulness is the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, with compassion and open-hearted curiosity. Through cultivating mindful awareness, we discover how to live in the present moment, rather than brooding about the past or worrying about the future."
At times, we all are guilty of losing our connection in the present moment. We are distracted by busy schedules, technology heavy workloads and relationship commitments.
Practicing mindfulness offers several benefits, such as:
* managing stress
* lowering blood pressure
* our capacity to resolve problems
* improving sleep
* enhancing our immune system
Here is a simple way you can practice mindfulness:
Find a quiet location to help you focus. Remove any technology or interruptions. Close your eyes and begin to focus on your breathing. Pay attention to how your chest rises and falls as you breathe. If you have thoughts, all them to come and release them. Notice if there is any tension in your body. Feel the tension and then feel yourself releasing the tension.
Mindfulness helps us be aware of ourselves and the lives of those around us.
