Theatre Memphis

Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs opens at Theatre Memphis on the Lohrey Stage April 26, 2013. Director Irene Crist and actor Sam Shankman spoke with Kacky Walton about this coming-of-age production.

The plot focuses on a semi-autobiographical story featuring Eugene Morris Jerome, a Polish-Jewish American teenager, who experiences the turmoil of his family dynamics, his sexual awakening and his search for his identity. Having to deal with his older brother and female cousins who move into his home, the family situations prove to be material that is tender and funny.

A crew of B-list actors rehearses a British bedroom farce to tour small towns across Britain.

Theatre Memphis will open Broadway's longest running American musical, Chicago, on the Lohrey Stage opening tonight, March 9, 2012, to run through April 1, 2012. Rob Hanford and Lindsey Roberts talk to Darel Snodgrass about this challenging production.
